The Earth Collection is inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi. Richly textured, infused with natural earth pigments, featuring cracked surfaces, reflecting the fragility of our beautiful environment. Kintsugi is a Japanese art/philosophy, similar to wabi sabi, that embraces and honors age and imperfection. Kintsugi highlights, with precious metal, the repairing of broken pottery. The earth is so precious, and sadly we will not be able to simply mend it, if we destroy it. I hope that this series of work serves as a beautiful reminder to make the right environmental choices, whenever we can.

The mixed-media original was created with earth pigment infused plaster, mica, gold leaf, and rain water to strengthen its connection to the elements.
